Abstract

The article analyzes how members of peasant–Indigenous communities in the Jujuy Puna (Argentina) integrate the use of vicuña fiber into their livelihoods and territorial forms of existence, as well as the tensions they face amid the expansion of the green extractivist accumulation model. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach and a case study design. The findings show that these experiences seek to generate and retain value within the territory through Andean practices and ontologies grounded in community life, collaborative networks, and the coproduction of knowledge, among others. However, their consolidation is constrained by state and market institutions that tend to reproduce capitalist logics of accumulation, positioning community-based initiatives in subordinate roles.

My academic background is interdisciplinary, bridging the fields of Social Sciences and Agronomy. In academia, I work as a lecturer in postgraduate courses (UBA, UNaM, and FLACSO), and as a researcher, I study the configuration of state formations and public policies oriented toward rural areas (rural development, Indigenous, and environmental policies), social reproduction strategies and peasant political practices, as well as processes of ethnic rearticulation. In my professional career, I have worked in the management and implementation of public policies on rural development, gender equity, and Indigenous peoples within state agencies and the Inter-American cooperation system.
