An aesthetical and political analysis about contemporary societies through abyect’s category

Abstract
In this essay, we will approach the theorization of the abject from a critical perspective in order to make an analysis of contemporary societies. First, we will present a brief introduction outlining the psychoanalytic origins and their influence on the understanding of this category, as well as the strong political charge it carries from its beginnings. Secondly, we will offer three possible criteria of satisfaction which may help the spectator to identify when the abject occurs in the artistic field. Finally, we will inquire into the political and ethical repercussions that this category has in today's advanced post-industrial societies.
